From Library Journal:
Micheli, director of sports medicine at Boston Children's Hospital, and Jenkins, a free-lance writer, do a great job of presenting both the dangers and benefits of youth sports. Practical information to make sports participation enjoyable, valuable, and safe is highlighted. Fitness--cardiovascular, musculoskeletal, and nutritional--is covered in layperson's terms and is presented as a lifetime goal, not just a means for successful sport's participation. The chapters devoted to sports injuries, both physical and psychological, should be required reading for every parent and coach of young athletes. This book provides a broader overview than Eric Margenau's Sports Without Pressure ( LJ 6/15/90), which emphasizes psychological aspects. Recommended.
