There are many keys to successful teaching and learning, but this book will focus on the keys that have the biggest impact on classroom instruction. With the huge emphasis today on accountability and testing that leaves teachers and students wanting and needing more instruction time, it becomes essential that avenues be visited that will enhance learning. The goal of all instruction in schools today is increased student learning. In order to reach that goal, greater retention becomes the guiding principle of instruction. When students achieve greater retention, then they will learn more in less time. Teachers must be allowed the freedom to teach (and not be scripted by textbooks), because they have the greatest influence on learning. With assessments taking up so much time that could be used for instruction, teachers run out of time to complete the instructional cycle. Students are left with learning partial concepts and not learning some concepts at all. Teachers make the difference, let them teach!
