As soon as Jonuke lifted the cover, the book flung open, its pages whirring past his fingers as if an invisible hand was searching for an exact page. It stopped suddenly and the words sprang from the page, swirling above the book creating a soft glow. A scene unfolded, revealing the Elite closely guarding a group of Freemen. "Let it be made known among the people that we are keeping the prisoners here. The Drek will attempt to liberate their friends, and this time they will not escape," the Karakan said darkly. The scene changed. Jonuke saw his uncle Renden planning a daring rescue, just as the Karakan had predicted. The next scene showed Renden in chains. "Dispose of the prisoners immediately," commanded the Karakan coldly. Jonuke’s face drained of color as he realized this was Renden’s future. Unless he did something about it....Beyond the Darke Forest (The Vanguard Series, Book 1)Beneath the Silver Lake (The Vanguard Series, Book 2)Behind the Hidden Door (The Vanguard Series, Book 3)Into the Forgotten Kingdom (The Vanguard Series, Book4)

About the Author:
Julie is a Renaissance woman of sorts who loves a project. She has dabbled in a variety of ventures from furniture upholstery and triathlon racing to home renovation and “Jerry-rigging” anything that squeaks, cracks, or sags. As a fifth grade teacher, she would often reward her students’ good behavior with dramatic accounts of embarrassing childhood moments. It was then that she discovered her flare for storytelling. By far her most challenging and rewarding project has been the writing the Vanguard series, where she seeks to transport her readers to new worlds with thrilling adventures around every turn. She lives in Mesa, Arizona with her husband, Scott, and their eight children along with 2 guinea pigs and seven fish.
