Gr 4-7--Standard sports biographies of current superstars. Both books are enhanced by plenty of full-color and black-and-white photographs and a clear, straightforward writing style. Of course, biographies of players whose careers are still active tend to lag behind in describing their subjects' latest accomplishments. Troy Aikman takes readers through the 1994 season; thus, it doesn't mention the Dallas Cowboys' 1995 Superbowl victory. Frank Thomas ends with Thomas's Most Valuable Player Award in the strike-shortened `94 season. (His `95 stats are given at the end of the book.) Yet these titles do have the advantage of being more up-to-date than other biographies available. Both have adequate indexes and brief lists for further reading. The popularity of the subjects and the short, readable format should make these series entries hot-ticket items.
