Are your carefree twenties a retreating memory? Are your friends discussing children and fixed-rate mortgages while you clutch your Xbox, sobbing? You're not the only one. 'Beta Male' is a riotously funny and painfully honest chronicle about friendship, masculinity, marriage and the beginning of the end of the beginning of adulthood.

Sam Hunt is a confused modern male in his very late twenties. A work-shy, commitment-phobic would-be actor, he is beginning to worry that turning thirty might just be the last straw. Flatmate Alan, the sensible one, has just been proposed to by his girlfriend Jess, with his femme fatale boss looking on with a saucy gleam in her eye. Newly-dumped Ed spends his time tearfully watching 'Sex and the City' in a pile of his ex-girlfriend's pajamas and plotting his revenge. Meanwhile unemployed doctor Matt embarks on a dubious bet with Sam to see who can be the first to ensnare a rich wife and enjoy a life of leisure...

Review:
Praise for Where Underpants Come From

¦Bennett¦s education in the world of global commerce sparkles with humor and sharp observations.¦ --Publishers Weekly

¦It¦s a humorous journey in some ways, and Bennett is a very good and often funny writer. But it also becomes a very interesting a comment on how much the West has come to depend on the EastèEvery aspect of the book is rivetingèFrightening, funny and fiercely interesting.¦ --January Magazine

¦Much more than an intrepid investigator reporting how his underpants found their way to his body, Bennett is a delightful guide on an off-the-beaten-track-tour of the New Chinaè The good time he has on his adventures from one end of China to the other is infectious.¦ --ShelfAwareness

¦If you read only one China book this year, make it Joe Bennett¦s Where Underpants Come From. Bennett does witty travelogue better than Bill Bryson, and dissects what makes countries and their economies tick better than PJ O¦Rourke did in Eat the Rich.¦ Urbanatomy.com
