It is the 1920s in Buenos Aires. A young woman is to be married to a sailor much older than herself. Everything seems lost for Natalia, but then she meets Diego, a mysterious young dancer. They dance a tango charged with passion before Diego vanished, knowing that she is lost to him. Natalia's husband is shipwrecked at sea soon after, and presumed dead. Penniless and alone, she is persuaded to become a dancer in a tango hall, to entertain Buenos Aires' seedy underworld. Diego discovers her there and vows to bring her away from this existence, but their reunion has violent and devastating consequences. Many years later, the young lovers' unquenchable longing for each other draws together two strangers in a haunting meeting, a fusion of time and identities. Heart of Tango is a magical tale of love frustrated by circumstances; it flows irresistibly with all the rhythm and sensuality of the dance itself.
