Stated "First published by Harvill Secker in 2018", first printing with a full number line starting at "1". 9-1/2" tall, 488 numbered pages includes "Acknowledgements" and "About the Type"; gilt lettering on spine; one-piece bright aqua binding, gilt lettering on spine, which is flat rather than curved; front board decorated with two 1-1/2" sea shells and sprigs of seaweed, very similar to the front panel jacket` illustration, also in gilt; end pages decorated in what appears to be a wall paper design of horizontal lines in blue and brown, with brown leaves scatted around; fore edge is trimmed. Book is brand new and pristine: it is square, hinges tight, corners not bumped, no dings on edges, head and heel of spine undamaged, interior clean and unmarked; no page corners folded or damaged; no remainder mark, not book club edition nor ex-library; no staining or discoloration; no distortion of the book from reading or improper shelving; pages are tight and clean with no marks. Jacket is clean; no tears, folds, creases or fading; no bumps on spine or edges; raised decorations on front panel evident (they have not been crushed); publisher's original price of "£12.99" listed on the lower right corner of front flap; 2-1/2" x 1-14" black-on-white sticker ("W & G Foyle" / bar code / ISBN number & price / "TITLE: Signed First Edition" / "CAT: RAG- FICTION G") on lower left corner of rear panel. Condition of book and jacket consistent with being brand new and not read. No other discernible or objectionable faults on book or jacket such as marks or writing within, stains, tears, chips, or other damage that would diminish its appearance. No remainder mark, no previous owner markings or inscriptions, not price clipped, not a book club edition, not a former library book. Signed by the author in medium black felt pen at the bottom of title page just to the right of the publisher's name; to the left of the publisher's name she has added the date ("24.1.18").
