First Edition
Hardcover. First edition. Fine in Near Fine Pictorial Dust Jacket with original price ($16.95). Shortly after its 1985 opening at Joe Papp's New York Shakespeare Festival, The Marriage of Bette and Boo won a large number of Obie awards Durang for Playwriting, Jerry Zaks for Directing, Loren Sherman for Set Design, and an Ensemble Acting Obie for the entire 10 person cast. Later that year the play also won the prestigeous Dramatists Guild Hull Warriner Award. The Hull Warriner award is for the best play of the year "dealing with social, religious or political issues", and it is particularly meaningful among playwrights since it is voted not by critics but by the 30 to 40 distinguished playwright members who make up the Dramatists Guild Council. Tan paper over boards with brown cloth backstrip and gilt titling on spine. Small remainder mark at bottom of text block. Dust Jacket shows very mild shelf wear. Previous owner's name at free front endpaper; otherwise interior is clean, crisp, tight & bright, unmarked. 118 pp. Approx. 6" x 8.5". A very nice copy. Carefully shipped in secure parcel. Ask all questions; glad to respond.
